Deleting your data
How to request deletion of your personal data processed by EKORA, depending on your situation, and what happens next.
Last updated:
You contacted us or visited the website
Send an email to confidentialite@ekora.africa with the subject “Data deletion”, stating the WhatsApp number or email address you used. We delete your contact request and the associated data.
You are an EKORA customer
- Write to confidentialite@ekora.africa from the address linked to the account (deletion from the console will be offered as soon as it opens).
- We close the account, revoke API keys and delete account data, conversations, agent knowledge bases and media.
- Invoices and accounting records are kept for 10 years, as required by law, then deleted.
You exchanged WhatsApp messages with an organisation that uses EKORA
That organisation is responsible for your data. Ask it for deletion; it can trigger it in EKORA. You can also write to confidentialite@ekora.africa giving the organisation's name and your number: we forward the request and keep you informed.
To stop receiving messages, reply “STOP” to the organisation or block its number in WhatsApp.
You connected a Facebook or Meta account to EKORA
If you authorised EKORA to access your WhatsApp Business account through Facebook, you can withdraw that access at any time in your Facebook account settings, under “Business integrations”, by removing EKORA. Then write to confidentialite@ekora.africa so that we delete the data obtained this way (account identifiers, access tokens, linked numbers).
Timelines and confirmation
- We acknowledge receipt within 7 days [to be confirmed] and may ask for proof of identity to prevent fraudulent requests.
- Deletion is completed within 30 days. Backup copies are overwritten in the normal rotation cycle, within [90 days, to be confirmed] at the latest.
- You receive a confirmation with a request number.
- Messages already delivered remain on recipients' phones and on Meta's servers under WhatsApp's rules: we cannot erase them.
